Self defence .. Karate with a difference!

On Sunday 28th February 2010 we  left the IGK and now train under

OKINAWA DEN GOJU RYU ASIA PACIFIC

Our martial arts club is self defence with a difference.  Our students have a big say in the way the club is run.  Because our dojo is small we can keep our training fees low.

We train in the traditional Goju Ryu style of karate as trained in Okinawa. We do incorporate other martial art techniques, for example Aikido and Arnis.  Our lineage is traced back to Chojun Miyagi in Okinawa. His senior student, Miyazato Ei'ichi Sensei established the Jundokan So Honbu in Okinawa in 1957, two years after Miyagi Sensei's death in 1955.  After Miyaztos passing in 1999, leadership of the Jundokan passed to his son, Miyazto Yoshihiro Kansho.

Bryson Keenan (Kyoshi 7th Dan) is currently a member of the Jundokan (Kuro-Obi Kai) and is now our Chief Instructor. Keenan Sensei has two other Dojos in Indonesia.

We have no age restrictions.  Age is no barrier because you train to the extent of your ability. From the beginning of 2010 we will be running Senior training from 6.30pm and continue until 8pm. Mature juniors are welcome to attend this class. From 8pm until 9pm is advanced training by invitation only. However, if you are  a black belt in any style and you would like to explore more advanced concepts such as pressure points and Ki, feel free to call in for a chat.
