Self defence .. Karate with a difference!

Our martial arts club is self defence with a difference.  Our students own the club and our students run the club.  Because we are a not-for-profit body we can keep our training fees low. In fact the students get to set their own fees.

We train in the traditional Goju Ryu style of karate but we do incorporate other martial art techniques.  Our lineage is traced back to Chojun Miyagi in Okinawa. He was followed by Master Gogen Yamaguchi, “The Cat”, who in turn instructed our chief instructor, and head of International Goju Karate, Kancho Tino Ceberano.  Tino Ceberano could be called the father of Australian karate, having introduced Goju Karate from Hawaii in the 1960s, and has been inducted into the Karate Hall of fame, having spent a lifetime studying the martial arts.

We have no age restrictions.  Age is no barrier because you train to the extent of your ability. For the present we are not running beginner classes however beginner classes are available from Ultimate.  However, if you are  a black belt in any style and you would like to explore more advanced concepts such as pressure points and Ki, feel free to call in for a chat.

Training is held at the Ultimate Martial Arts Centre in Canterbury Rd, Heathmont, each Wednesday evening at 7.30pm.
