Self defence .. Karate with a difference! Our martial arts club is self defence with a difference. Our students have a big say in the way the club is run. Because our dojo is small we can keep our training fees low. In fact the students are consulted as to the level of fees. We train in the traditional Goju Ryu style of karate but we do incorporate other martial art techniques, for example Aikido and Arnis. Our lineage is traced back to Chojun Miyagi in Okinawa. He was followed by Master Gogen Yamaguchi, “The Cat”, who in turn instructed our chief instructor, and head of International Goju Karate, Kancho Tino Ceberano. Tino Ceberano could be called the father of Australian karate, having introduced Goju Karate from Hawaii in the 1960s, and has been inducted into the Karate Hall of fame, having spent a lifetime studying the martial arts. We have no age restrictions. Age is no barrier because you train to the extent of your ability. From the beginning of 2008 we will be running beginner classes from 5pm until 6pm. Senior training will begin at 6pm and continue until 8pm. Advanced juniors are welcome to attend this class, or they may continue through from the junior class if desired for no exta cost. From 8pm until 9pm is advanced training by invitation only. However, if you are a black belt in any style and you would like to explore more advanced concepts such as pressure points and Ki, feel free to call in for a chat. |
